PALLET FACTOR
Question 1 of 4
Find the right pallet: what do you need it for?
How Pallet Factor works
All the pallets the game compares
Reels and rolls
- Custom reel pallet: Beyond the limits of catalogue models you need a solution designed around your load. (ROLL custom)
- Cradle on a Euro pallet + chocks: For shipping: you turn a flat pallet into a reel pallet and secure the reel with plastic chocks, outside ISPM 15. (ROLL CV01 + KU10)
- Cradle pallet for racking: Integrated cradle and steel bars: designed to sit in a rack, spanning two beams, with the reel held by the cradle. (ROLL RCV69)
- XL cradle pallet: For large-diameter reels: wider footprint, long cradle. (ROLL SO01)
- Reinforced cradle pallet: Heavy reels: steel bars and a long footprint to spread the concentrated load. (ROLL RM02)
- Floor cradle pallet: Washable one-piece unit for 1 to 3 reels, for internal handling. (ROLL LO01)
Shipping, including abroad
- Heavy pallet with runners: Above 1,500 kg you usually need a runner structure, often with steel. As a one-way pallet the cost adds up: consider getting it back.
- Pallet for racking: If it goes into a rack at the customer’s site, you need a pallet with a stated racking load capacity, usually with runners and reinforcement.
- Medium pallet with runners or 9 feet: Medium or stacked loads: you need good static load capacity.
- Light nestable pallet: It weighs a few kilos, takes up little space when empty and falls outside ISPM 15: the classic one-way export pallet.
Warehouse and reuse
- Heavy pallet with steel: Above 1,500 kg you need runners and steel profiles, even on the floor.
- Reinforced pallet for racking: Steel bars against deflection between the beams: plastic on its own is usually less rigid than wood. (ROLL PP69)
- Stackable pallet with runners: When stacked, static load capacity is what counts: runners and a strong deck. (ROLL PP69)
- Flat-deck 4-way pallet: Closed deck and 9 feet: the pallet truck enters from 4 sides, suited to floor handling. (ROLL PP08)
Hygiene: food and pharma
- Hygienic pallet in virgin plastic with a food-contact declaration: Direct food contact: virgin plastic and a declaration of compliance (Reg. (EC) 1935/2004, (EU) 10/2011).
- Heavy hygienic pallet: Above 1,500 kg, or in a rack with high loads: you need a hygienic pallet with reinforcement.
- Hygienic HDPE pallet for the cold: In a cold store the material is what counts: according to datasheets HDPE stays tough down to about −45 °C.
- Hygienic H1 pallet with closed runners: Closed runners, smooth surfaces, washable: for clean environments with packaged goods. (ROLL PPH1)
Automated warehouse or AGV
- Heavy steel-reinforced pallet for automation: High loads in automated warehouses: minimal deflection, steel profiles, tight tolerances.
- Reinforced pallet for stacker cranes: In an automated rack deflection must stay minimal: steel bars and consistent geometry. (ROLL PP69)
- Pallet with 3 or 5 runners for conveyors: Roller conveyors usually need continuous runners perpendicular to the rollers. (ROLL PP69)
- 4-way pallet open underneath for AGVs: Pallet-truck AGVs need consistent entries and a clear floor footprint for their load wheels. (ROLL PP08)
Frequently asked questions
What is Pallet Factor?
It is a question-based selector: you answer 4 questions (5 for hygiene) on load, use and size, and the unsuitable pallets are discarded until one is left, the right one for you. At the end you get the right pallet, guides to read more, a web search and a ready-made prompt for AI.
What questions does it ask?
First you choose your case: reels, shipping, warehouse and reuse, hygiene, automation. Then the weight of the load, where the pallet sits (on the floor, stacked, in a rack, on conveyors or AGVs) and the size. For hygiene there is one more question: whether the product touches the pallet directly.
Is the result binding?
No. It indicates the suitable pallet family based on typical values from manufacturers’ datasheets. Before ordering, always check the static, dynamic and racking load capacity in the datasheet of the chosen model.
Why does a ROLL pallet sometimes appear?
plasticpallet.info is a project by ROLL. When your case matches one of the pallets ROLL offers (reel pallets, PP69 for racking, PPH1 hygienic, PP08 4-way flat deck) you see it first; in other cases you only get the guides and searches.
